We can manage

I was watching when Kevin Doyle first hurt his knee and then aggravated it minutes later. You could instantly tell that he would be out for a while.

It's a massive blow, but as the title suggests I think we can manage.

Now is the chance for Steven Fletcher or Sylvan Ebanks-Blake to prove they can be top dog. Neither of them have had much time on the pitch this season, but both have a pretty impressive goalscoring record.

Sylvan had a tough time last season. He was never fully fit, he looked sluggish and his goalscoring instinct seemed to have deserted him. But this season when he's been given the chance he has put in a good performance. He looks stronger, his pace has returned and on the ball he has improved massively. He's often been brought on ahead of Fletcher, which is why most people expect him to start at Newcastle.

Fletcher is already being considered a flop, a waste of six and a half million but in my mind this is the reason we bought him for. You need to have strength in depth to progress and we have that in abundance attacking wise. He's an excellent footballer, with that eye for goal. He's also a harder worker than he is given credit for.

I've got a feeling Mick will go with Fletch. All of a sudden he has an opportunity to justify the huge fee we paid for him. Whoever it is that starts, I have every faith that they will perform.

I pass the question on to you. Which one would you pick, if not both, and who do you think Mick will go with?

  1. Louie you've failed to realise what Doyle's injury really means. A place for Mad Mick to put his son in the team. Unfortunately, we are now f*cked

  2. wardy's the man for his job. He's put in so many uncomplaining shifts over the last two years in totally unfamiliar positions and made a damn good fist of it too. Give the boy a run in his favoured position. It didn't do us any harm against Liverpool, I seem to remember.

  3. After watching Seb's performance on his own at home to Birmingham there is simply nothing to discuss. It was probably the best lone striking performance I have seen for many a year down Wolves, Besides better pace than Doyle, stronger than Doyle & goal scoring than Doyle where's the problem. We could push for Europe now (soory I am joking on the latter!)

  4. He didn't really play up front on his own against Brum. Then again, he did play with Ward which practically counts as playing on his own!

I think if we are going for a runner, with pace it is SEB. However, if we want someone who links up play, and makes something happen it's Fletch.

  5. there he is again, the unsung hero, assisting SEB manfully (see above v blues) but accepting none of the praise.

  6. Fletcher must be desperate for his chance now. What an excellent acquisition (like so many Mick signings before him) he would turn out to be if he came up with the goods now. I think he can do it

  7. i hope you're taking the piss biscuit. wardy my arse. doyle on crutches would give us more of a chance. Another eventuality our glorious leader failed to prepare for. Fletcher should've played more. I think maybe mccarthy's luck just ran out.

  8. Gotta be fletcher. If we could carry a 4-4-2 he'd have been a regular. Victim of our formation, think he has more right to be aggrieved with Wolves than the fans have with him.

  9. no no no. there's no denying that ward puts in a shift and a half but he wont score and lets face it he's not that technically gifted. he's not a premiership striker, he couldn't hack in the championship. i like ward but out of seb and fletcher , ward has to sit down and pray something comes up at left back which i hope it doesn't cause elekobi has been great towards the end of the season

  10. wardy's no left back. he was just filling in there because the gaffer asked him.sacrificing himself for the sake of the team.

  12. It will hopefully be fletch and I also think we should re call one of the on lone strikers keogh, vokes and Hoff I still beleve we can stay up Doyle was good but isn't the key player of our team it's our midfield which is the key of our team in past weeks! We could even see Jarvis put up front with hunt and kightly back fit but we will have to wait for the Newcastle game!
