Wolves 2 Bolton 1

Last week, after 3 minutes at the Molineux it was very much doom and gloom. 3 minutes gone there yesterday, and Wolves fans were going crazy. Yes, he is offside but we deserve a little bit of luck. Megson couldn't anything about the second goal, Milijas scoring his first goal for us. I think most knew he could do that, there are so many amazing goals by him on youtube. In the first half, we were all over them. We started to play like we knew we could, Jarvis creating problems as usual, and Edwards filling in for Kightly (who is out for two months). With Henry and Milijas you can have a good balance.

For most of the game, we defended alright but it was annoying to concede from another corner. We do need to get this sorted. It was a scrappy goal, and there could have been a few more of them. Hahnemann made a good save and The Hof saved us at the end. Klasnic had a lot of chances, but their best player was Lee. He was the one creating chances.

Stephen Ward has continued from where he left off at Man City. I knew when he came back he would play well too. He's so consistent, and remember we signed him as a forward! He was probably the Man of the Match alongside Nenad.

Did you know Christophe Berra has now set up 4 goals. Milijas has been involved in 5 of the last 6 and Craddock scored 4 out of the last 5. This was a much improved performance, let's hope we have turned a corner and we carry on improving at White Hart Lane.

Hahnemann - 7

Stearman - 7
Berra - 7
Craddock - 7
Ward - 9

Edwards - 7
Henry - 7
Milijas - 9
Jarvis - 7

Doyle - 8
SEB - 7

  1. Yes Louie - what a great match for us. Absolutely with you on Wardy. We were sat down near his corner in the first half and he got to everything. Going forward on the left if we're on the break is a treat with him and Jarvis.

Interested in your thoughts on the Hoff. Cracker of the clearance. Granted, he came on at a tricky time as Molineux got nervy... but he looked a tad clumsy and appears to take 20 yards to get going and then another 20 to slow down!

And great to see Nenad get stuck in - he's obviosuly not totally comfortable with tackling, but got stuck in and one a fair few 50-50s.

  2. Ward did form a good partnership down the left flank with Jarvo last season. I always like what he did, draw the winger/full back out and give it to Matty. always served us well.

the Hof's clearance was great. yes, sometimes he does look clumsy but I actually heard him win the ball yesterday (may have misheard). When I went to see us v Everton I was very impressed. Positive on the ball and wasn't afraid to get stuck in, he was unfairly sent off.

I wasn't there, but it sounded like nenad made a special effort tackling wise. His distribution is brilliant and he is the reason I think we might score from corners and freekicks. There is plenty to be positive but we must not get carried away, it is only one win. I do feel we need to get a surprise win over the next month. Maybe city/Spurs. Liverpool are dropping points all the time.

  3. Regardless of the scores, what we need now is decent performances against Spurs and Utd so that we go into the game with Burnley thinking we are going to win. Confidence is all and we have to build on yesterday's improvement. How incredible that Ward is looking such an accomplished full back at this level!

  4. Louie you got the correct score, but not scorers! :)

dboy you are absolutely right, Ward has made the left back spot his own. Those doubters are looking stupid now. His defending is good (and improving) and he can actually pass, something that stops Elokobi and Hill being prem quality.

I say give Maierhofer some time. he needs to adjust (like nenad and zubar). he actually can win the ball with his head, I think he has been given a bit of a shock by the Englishman's style of defending. he will get used to it, he got a goal on his debut which assures me he has an eye for goal.

Nenad could be the talisman for us that Bullard (who got injured) is for hull and was for Fulham. He will be the difference, and could decide our fate this season. Not to put too much pressure on him though!

Anyone else think SEB and Doyle just doesn't work? As a big fan of TheHof I think he should get a chance.

  5. It is amazing how Ward looks so comfortbale at left back. He is looking every bit premiership class, has he put a foot wrong?

Hof, give them a chance. We can't drop Doyle that;s for sure, considering how well he has done but SEB is only just back to full fitness. I think they compliment each other. Doyle works slightly harder, makes things happen and SEB is a poachers and a good shielder of the ball.
