Be bold

With Curbishley apparently rejecting us twice, Steve Bruce being an old lady, Brian McDermott signing a new deal with Reading and Brighton wanting more compensation for Gus Poyet than we would stump up, the search goes on.

And what I'd like us to do now, is be bold.

Take a chance.

With no stand out candidate now (not that there was really one before), I'd much prefer we went for a young 'up and coming' manager, with fresh ideas than someone who may have been there and done it, but seems to have gone stale.

And I do think there are some good young managers out there who if we wanted, we would get.

First on my list, Karl Robinson.

I've watched MK Dons a few times and they are great to watch. Almost Swansea like, but a bit more progressive. He's respected as a coach, something I think we need more than ever, and as he's worked under Sam Allardyce at Blackburn, which will have given him some very good experience of this league.

Robinson - Could teach our players a move or two.
Secondly, Eddie Howe.

Another very young manager, his team play attractive but quite effective football. Doesn't just stick to one formation and has got the best out of Jay Rodriguez, a Steven Fletcher style poacher. The job he did at Bournemouth was also nothing short of remarkable either.

And my third and final choice, Chris Powell.

Not only has he got his Charlton side playing great attacking football (the main theme behind my preferred candidates), but he is also an infectious character and all round nice guy. I think that would fit in well with our culture and may help to ease the bad feeling of Mick going. He also showed that bringing a whole new squad doesn't set you back a few months (cough, cough, Steve Bruce).

I think any of these three, and there are more, would bring a better approach than bringing in someone like Walter Smith, Ray Wilkins or Graeme Souness. It is very unlikely that Wolves will go down this route but even if the worst were to happen and we were relegated, it would give them three months Premier League experience and would hold them in good standing if we were to have a quick return to the top flight.

  2. They would be very gutsy moves to be sure, but I can't see the board going for anyone other than Steve Bruce right now...

    They could surprise me though!

I'm a wolves fan, just fed up with it all.
Does that merit having my post deleted?

  7.  Though he has done well with Huddersfield (unfairly sacked really), I'm not convinced by his style and he has had quite a big budget for a league one side.

  9. tbh   i'm probably as confused about this than the Wolves board.......
mmm if it's a short term thing and with options dwindling faster than our Premiership status it's still gotta be Curbs .....compromise with him and let's get him in he's the only man for the job.....why MM was sacked with no forsight and forward planning I'll never know but I think with Moxey and Morgan we're going nowhere fast.
Look at that lot down the road gloating now.....
I feel comnpletely empty after all this farce and I don't see us getting anything out of Newcastle either :-(

  10. Are you saying 'that lot down the road' don't have a reason to chuckle?
Knee jerk sacking after being humiliated by 'that lot down the road'.....
(evidenced by Morgan flying back from holiday)
Moxey setting manager criteria, and then breaking them.
Moxey setting timescales, and then failing to keep to them.
Morgan managing to scare off the best candidate with some flawed blueprint for Wo1ve5 future.....

The list goes on and on.....

  12. What scares me most about the whole sorry business is that apparently Curbishley and the clubs vision of the future did not agree, how the hell can that be, surely both wanted Wolves to become an established Premier league club. It can only then come down to how they thought that could be achieved, and I would guess  that involves the amount of money required to achieve it, what do you think the Moxey / Morgan answer to this was, I bet it was £4 million. That is probably why we have screwed up in getting the one candidate who would definetly saved us, lets face it, our club is run by a bunch of clueless muppets and they are turning us into a joke. Please tell Moxey that he is not working for MI5, he can talk to his customers (the fans) and still get the job done. In my experience if people are not telling you something then it is rarely good news, so their silence is damning.
