5 things we learnt at Fulham

I'm don't think I want to say much about the actual 'match' (if we are going to call it that) so I thought I'd talk about 5 things we have learnt today.

1. Jamie O'Hara is a luxury

Karl Henry - more important than some think
Jamie, TC or any coach/player can talk about him playing through the pain if he doesn't even bother trying and plays like an idiot! Unfortunately, we haven't seen Jamie play consistently well for a while, if at all which is a shame because he is obviously a talent, but he is a luxury we can't afford right now, unless he decides to pull his finger out.

2. Without Henry we crumble

We weren't playing particularly well with Karl today, but as recent results have proved we simply can't handle not having him there. He gets a lot of stick but he is vital to our chances and we have to hope his injury isn't serious, otherwise we are in a huge amount of trouble.

3. Zubar (a defender), can't defend

After a promising performance last week, Zubar reminded us why we much prefer a host of other defenders to him at right back. He simply went AWOL today and atleast two of the goals came from him not being at right back, his bloody position!!

4. Berra hasn't learnt his lesson.

After costing us goals with the same mistake against Villa and Newcastle, you'd think Berra would stop being so laid back when he has the ball at the back but no, he tried to give them a goal but letting someone sneak in behind him as he went to clear it. He got lucky this time.

5. Generally, anything good comes through Milijas

The only times we played any good football, Nenad was involved and he was one of the only players to come out of this game with any sort of credit. He has some faults but what he does have is quality and a brain, we really need to use him more and better.

Agree with my points, think there are more (there are). Comment your views below.

  1. It just wasn't the worst ever Wolves display I have ever seen...it was the worst Premiership display I have ever witnessed !   Wolves are easily the worst side in the Premiership....no doubt about that.  I have seen Wigan, Blackburn and Bolton and all three of them are easily much better than Wolves. I am not sure if we can actually survive the Championship on this showing.  Shame when you consider that most of the players are supposedly of international level!  Have never ever imagined Wolves would come to this...totally hopeless !

  2. I'm sure there our lineup against Wigan will look altogether different. Both our defenders will be replaced by Bassong and Johnson. O'Hara played well against Newcastle. He has just come back from injury and I believe that is the reason for him not being consistent. Steven Fletcher fights with Doyle for a place in the team. Fletcher looked a bit rusty yesterday, but he is on his way back into the team.

Regarding Zubar. Last year I joked about using him as a striker. He's almost always able to cross the ball in or to positioning himself to create a chance with a shot on goal. He likes to attack. Move Foley or Stearman to right back. I guess Kightly starts at the right wing home at Wigan - in away matches however I would like to see Zubar on the right wing.

  3. The Guiness in the '8 Bells' was quite pleasant.  Can't think of anything else to say really. Where did it all go so wrong this season ?  These are dark days for a Wolves fan....  :-(

  4. Oh Razor you missed the Doombar in The Crabtree, lovely stuff.
On a more depressing note as soon as I saw Berra was playing over Bassong I knew it was going to be bad, in two and a half games on the pitch he has seen 11 goals fly in the net, that's some record. Is Kightly is better than Forde? Berra better than Batth? Ward better than Reckford? I'd at least like to know by giving them a chance. Who is going to buy the piles of deadwood we have in the summer?

  5. Posted on another forum before the match that, with Berra and Stearman in defence, we had no chance of keeping a clean sheet.

I wouldn't be so presumptuous as to suggest who the manager should pick as he obviously knows more than I, but I just don't see what good those two are bringing to the team right now.

  6. If I hadn't already done so, I would have torn up my season ticket after that performance. Clipboard and his players should have been marched into the centre circle and pelted with rotten food after that shower.

  7. Who would you chose between Foley vs Eggert replacing Henry, if he don't return in time for the Blackburn match, as a defensive midfielder? This one is close. I think I would go for Foley

  8. Agree with you there Foley but I would go for it 4 4 2 ...doyle a bit behind fletcher and throw the kitchen sink at them right from the very start.   Just go for it lots of ball into the area and pressure them in their own half. We have to go for this match with passion and fire. Guess I would also try Craddock and Bassong if both fit.  They could not do any worse for sure.
