So, it's official.
We all knew it was coming. Ever since January, everyone knew we wanted him. He is Doyle's best mate, and he knows quite a few of our players.
But where will he play?
He is versatile, and you know he will work hard where ever he plays but whose place would he take. Could he go on the right wing, and be ahead of Kightly? Or ahead of one of our star players in Jarvis? I've seen him play left back too but Van Damme has just signed.
Mick must have a plan, and where ever he plays we know he is a good player who will help our cause for next season.
What do you think?
I think he will play the obvious position of the right wing. Hes not going to replace jarvis if hes kept his form from last season and even if kightly is fit they can put the most inform out of the two on the field and have an extremely good back up which we need.
ReplyDeleteHunt being left footed will play on the left wing and Jarvis will battle it out for the right wing birth against Kightly and his crutches...
ReplyDeleteIf Kites ever gets fit again, he still has to prove that he can take his man on, which he hasn't done for some time...
Even before we got promoted,Kites and Jarvis were rarely fit at the same time! At least now we'll have three decent wingers of which hopefully at least two will be fit at any time!
ReplyDeleteGood thinking Dan and spot on!!
ReplyDeleteAgreed, and if we get this guy N'Daw from Nantes too, then we will have even more options... but we'll have to wait and see. I still think we need Nenad or Jones to step up with creativity, and someone at least challenge Henry for his "cemented" place in the team...
ReplyDeleteIn Mick we trust....
Much as I rate Milijas, I can't see Mick playing him in a 4 man midfield and surely, now that we have Fletcher to partner Doyle, that's what we're gonna get. In which case I think we should break the bank to get Stephen Ireland to play in front of Karl
ReplyDeleteHunt is one of those players that everybody hates until he plays for their team. It's another very impressive signing and early in the close season too. Only problem with all these deft transfer dealings and bold club statements (the ground development, the quality not quantity signings policy) is the rising level of expectation.
ReplyDeleteI think we now have a decent chance of avoiding relegation next season which is the all important thing - especially with all of the proposed ground improvements.
ReplyDeleteStephen Hunt is unlikely to be match fit until November, so for the first three months of the season you're all wrong--he won't be in any position in the team! And it remains to be seen if he will ever be fit for an extended period and not become another Tony Daley or Ade Williams. That being the case, it depends who in our midfield is playing worse than Hunt could and is the least strong link. McCarthy will look at who's playing and drop the weakest midfield link (or possibly left-back)--if he thinks Hunt is better! A no-brainer!
ReplyDeletei think all those commenting on here have probably read the statement on the official website saying he won't be fit til the end of October and as nobody specifically mentioned when he would be playing I don't see how we're 'all wrong' Peter. He's a fine, versatile, experienced player and I suspect most Wolves fans are delighted to have him in the squad.
