Thank god for Steve Morgan

Mike Ashley, what a numpty.

From the start it was obvious that he didn't want Chris Hughton but the way he has done this is a total disgrace. Eleventh in the league, despite a recent poor run of form and all the backing of his players. all of that is now gone and I think they have just joined us in a relegation battle. The players have already voiced their concern, and you can expect many of them heading out in January. It seems that it will be Alan Pardew aswell, Ashley's friend from a casino! Pardew isn't a big enough name to change their minds either, nor is he that good a manager.

Morgan has done a remarkable job at Wolves
Seeing what he is doing to Newcastle United makes me feel really glad to have Steve Morgan as our owner. He has always supported the manager, obviously cares about the football club and is a calm influence. He's not about to make any rash decision, he's thinking about the long term. Even if we go down I don't think he will have thought once about sacking Mick, as we have the supplies to bounce straight back up.

Everything at the club seems right. From the players, to the staff. There's a good atmosphere around and everyone seems to like each other. Gone are the days of overpaid run-down ex-Premier League players.

You have to give some credit to Mick for this. Where would we be if it wasn't for him? Possibly in the lower leagues. We had thirteen players and were relegation favourites when Mick came in and he turned it around. He's got us promoted and kept us there with a lot of young players. It's amazing to me that fans are calling for his head. There is no other manager, that would want to manage us, that could turn this bad run of form around.

So many people took offence to the 'numpties' comment. Why? Do you think he is calling all fans who do not go to games numpties. No. He's talking about the people who are constantly negative, and want him out. That is who he is trying to offend, and it's worked.

And if you do want 'Mick out', be careful what you wish for. We could get Alan Curbishley.

  1. Sorry Bloggerwolf but you cannot keep living on what McCarthy has done, that is history and we all know what Wolves history is worth - nothing when it comes to results!
McCarthy did indeed drag us uo from the Championship when perhaps noone else could have done or even wanted to have done but thati s in the past now.
What matters is the present and the future and the present is that we are in the bottom 2 with the future looking as if we could go down.
McCarthy's record at PL level is extremely poor and even removing Sunderland from his record leaves an equally poor set of statistics.
What worries Wolves fans most is that each season Wolves go through a bad patch and McCarthy has no idea how to redress the problem.
In our promtion year, the other teams had bad spells at exactly the same time as we did and we 'escaped' and last season we got away with it again because Portsmouth completely lost their way and Burnley and Hull were ultimately worse than we were, thankfully!
McCarthy has proved he can manage at Championship level but when it comes to the PL, he is found wanting!
IF he remains then he needs someone as an assistant who knows how to change things quickly when times get tough which is something he cannot get his head around but if he continues as he is doing, then we can all prophesise what the outcome will be!

  2. I obviously overlooked to mention that Newcastle have panicked in dismissing Chris Hughton so soon into his PL career and they may well pay for that later but in Steve Morgan's case, McCarthy has been around for 4 years and that is more than enough time to evaluate his capabilities as a manager - and that includes his PL period!

  3. Bloggerwolf you are wasting your time, "what worries wolves fans most is that each season wolves go through a bad patch and McCarthy has no idea how to redress the problem" what the fcuk are you on about we have hardly been around in the prem that long - or is that Micks fault has well?, first season we finished in top 6 -that was the problem our fans expected it more? second just out the top 6, third promotion has Champs, fourth survival, fifth? - survival, so how Mick has done that god in holy knows? problem is with a lot of our fans they "think" they know better than the guy who is qualified! some even think they know more than the medical team! thank god Morgan knows about loyalty something a lot of our fans could do with learning - me I would give him a contract for life! I wonder were Man U would be now if they had listened to their fans?

Seems like two of our old heroes comes back, Lescott and Keane.
If these two transfer rumours turns out to be true and they become members of our squad after new year, I'm sure
we'll stay up, if we're not plagued by more injuries. Two dysfunctional areas, defense and attack, becomes considerably strengthened. And that Doyle and Keane plays together on the national team is another advantage.

  5. absolutely, and a decent left back and we are well on our way to mid table. the situation is nowhere near as bad as it seems. a decent run of results and everyone is happy again

  6. Has Mick not kept us up in the top flight, something no-one has ever done?

Has he not got us playing very good football, taking Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal very close and defeating Man City. Yes, our defence has been poor at times but if we can stick together there is no reason we can not stay up.

His record with Sunderland was not good - at all- but he was hardly to blame. He wasn't given any money at all, and people forget that too easily. Why are people so negative, proving they really are numpties!

  7. what are ya on blogger? morgan is loyal, and calm but we need someone flipping decisive!! the guy has spent money yeah but if you spend that much you gotta expect summit to actually turn out decent. we've been very very lucky in the last couple of years, a poor fizzy pop league and a poor premier league. and now we are getting dragged down with muppet mick and silent steve.

  8. I agree with JohnWolf, Louie you are wasting your time. These guys won't change their mind.

If Mick listened to the 'fans' we would probably still have Freddy Eastwood for the love of god! I love to see talented players but if we don't have hard working ones where will we ever get!? The numpties will never change., negativity is a drug to them and they are addicted.

Mick has a wonderful record at Wolves, breaking records and doing something noone has done for us for a very, VERY long time.

    Good blog.

    Keep the faith

  9. Stick with Mick, best thing for this club since I started watching them 30 years ago. Agree our defence is shit and Van Damme messing us about hasn't helped. I still want to support this group of players and the manager more than most of the numpties we have had over the years

  10. I agree. Mick is doing a good job. Progress in this the toughest league in the world is by necessity gradual (unless you have hundreds of millions to spend). Under Jones we bought old experienced players and, surprise surprise, only lasted a year in the Premier league. So the board thought about it realistically (we can't afford to buy the players we need) and decided on this 'young and hungry' policy, which is all about building gradually with this fine set of young players recruited at a fraction of their eventual value. It has worked. We survived last season (and not, though Penkridge wolf would have you believe otherwise, with only 3 teams below us) and the point is that now, to survive this time, we need to stick with the team that has got us here (adding quality where we can) because each year they get a bit more experienced and a bit more confident. The style of football has proved beyond recognition during Mick's tenure. To sack him now would definitely set us back. I too, however, fear that you are wasting your breath bloggerwolf. It's in the old gold blood it seems, this kind of negativity. Remember the 'you've let us down again' banner. Who but a Wolves fan would take that to a match?

  11. I think you have summed it up really well. A catalogue of stupid mistakes in defence has put us in this position, away to Fulham, Spurs, Wigan, Blackpool and home to Arsenal and Bolton come to mind, even in the wins against City and Sunderland we nearly threw the games away. Mick tried to strengthen and Van Damme looked like a good signing and Moulyoko a prospect. I just don't get the mentality at Wolves, wouldn't dare air my views where I stand on the Southbank. We've now been hit by injuries and this is time to get behind the team, instead we still have tickets available for a local derby on Sunday. I am a southerner and been supporting Wolves since I moved to the Midlands 30 years ago, What football have I missed that the "Mick out" brigade yearn for ?

  12. You haven't and this is easily the best football we have produced since the 70s. The games against the big clubs (Man U twice, Arsenal, Chelsea and City) proved that. Compare our performances against those same teams last season or even Jones' team's performances against the equivalent. The supporters to whom you wouldn't dare air your positive outlook equate ludicrous expectations with ambition. Most of the blogs I've looked at seem to echo their views. Perhaps they are just a noisy minority. Maybe, just maybe, it's time we, the silent (I'm beginning to suspect) majority, spoke up.

Lose the two derbies and MM will be out on his ear (with any luck).

Sick of happy clappers letting him live on his previous success. Yes he got us up, yes he kept us up - thanks for the memories. However, £18 million spent on players warming the bench, stupid tactical decisions, sticking with underperforming players, 19 in the league with just 3 wins all season - says it all.

  14. MM did what several other big names couldn't - got us promoted. It's always easier to say the grass will be greener when X,Y or Z takes over but the past has shown it's not that simple. Plus the transfer windows mean it's not that easy to change things if you pick up injuries or players go off form. Even if we go down I think we should still by MM.

  15. mm spends 7 million on fletcher and doesn,t play him. keeps playing stearman when he would struggle to get in most championship teams and plays ward in center mid when really he's a winger and people keep saying keep the faith. thanks for the memory's mick but you can't cut it in the pl

    Spot on!

The sooner we get rid of Mick the more chance we give us ourselves of some sort of fightback. My guess is the players are secretly sick of seeing 'S.Ward' on the team sheet every friggin' week.

Yes Mick you've done an ok job with lots of money but now is time to go. Come on Morgan, open your eyes and look at the league table!

  17. the mick out brigade might as well forget it. Morgan's too smart to sack Mick. Building something special from relatively low resources takes time
