How do you solve a problem like Mouyokolo?

“It didn’t work out for Steven Mouyokolo and it didn’t work out for Jelle Van Damme – we got our dough back on that one – but overall we’ve got the nucleus of a 40-point Premier League side that played in the hardest league for a long time and is still here.”

Does that quote from Mick signal the end for Steven Mouyokolo?

Who? Don't you remember him?

I don't blame you. Signed from Hull last summer, Tiger's fans despaired. If there were two players they least wanted to sell it was the two we had bought from them. Stephen Hunt has gone on to prove his worth, but this guy has been an enigma.

Quick, powerful and comfortable on the ball. This is what Hull fans told us but so far we have seen the opposite. All we've seen is him being bamboozled by Johan Elmander and bullied by Jason Roberts. He promised a lot in the cup game at United, he look half decent but lacking fitness. We haven't seen anything since.

I have a small glimmer of hope that with a full pre-season, he may improve. He had plenty of niggling injuries throughout the season, and in his few appearances has looked short of fitness. If he can get fit, maybe then can he finally prove he can be the centre back we were told he was?

He's also still relatively young. He's twenty four and has three years remaining on his contract. Will he still be here to show us what he can do?

Unlike the  cash conscious 3M 's to write off an investment with 3 years left on it's best by date, surely a loan @ least , unless it's personal bitterness on the part of Supermick  in which case tell Mouyokolo to ring the "Roy Keane hotline for the jilted by McM"!
Seriously though it's probably as simple as a near-Freudian slip by Mick, who may have been being  subconsciously defensive, almost apologising money wise , (hard to believe I know)about a former defender like him ending up as a manager with a woeful back line.
Have a feeling the boy will come good , a little less sink or swim and some mentoring  needed , please!
Either way after Mick's damning faint praise, he's gonna' need to put himself in the shop window by strenuous effort .

The miracle will continue , everyday everyway we will climb the Premier League.Great goalie , wingers, forwards, and now most of midfield , just DM, LB and CB to go !!Keep the faith.

  2. Agree with the last bit especially. I tihnk we are three or four players away from an excellent team that could push into the top half of the table.

  3. sell him, he's either been  injured or shite. Another terrible defensive signing by Mick

  4. as he was injured for most of the season it would be foolish to write him off just yet but he certainly needs to do something drastic to win over the wolves crowd who, judging by most blogs I've seen, are (as ever) rushing to judgement
