Another three points closer to safety

Doyle got us going.
Weren't Wolves just brilliant?

After a nervy opening ten minutes we really stepped up and played some great football. The last two goals were great bits of play and Doyle's finish for the first one was perfect.

Doyle was brilliant, as he always is and Faubert couldn't cope with Jarvis. Foley played his part and came so cloe to scoring but the bar (again!) prevented him. Our defence was solid, Elokobi came in for Ward (who I'm guessing was tired and a bit injured) and had a solid game. I was worried about him against Diamanti but he coped. Zubar scored a great goal and was faultless. Craddock and Berra handled Carlton Cole and Benni McCarthy without any problems. Berra had a shakey first ten minutes but contributed for the first goal. The more defensive centre midfielders got on with their jobs, and gave us something attacking. Henry has started being a lot more adventurous, and Mancienne was playing in the holding letting Karl go further forward.

The best player on the pitch for me was David Jones. I wasn't his biggest fan and wanted Nenad Milijas in but Jones controlled this game. All round he was brilliant. He got back, did his bit defensively and created two great goals. Let's hope he can keep this going.

Hahnemann - 8

Zubar - 9
Craddock - 8
Berra - 8
Elokobi - 8

Foley - 8
Henry - 8
Mancienne  -8
Jones - 10
Jarvis - 9

Doyle - 9

I'm so pleased with the performance and result I can't give below an eight for any of them.

Everton next, can we go four unbeaten?

Yes Louie we can go 4 unbeaten. Even after Everton beat city tonight I'm still confident. Hopefully they'll be knackered having played a day later than us. I think you've got the marks out of ten spot on. Jonesn was truly immense.

I just read on another blog that 8 of the players from the infamous united game were playing last night! More vindication for Mr McCarthy!

That is amazing Lord. Haven't heard any commentators acknowledging that fact. Let's hope Arsenal 'rest' their best players in the middle of the two barcelona games even but if they do, don't hold your breath waiting for the FA to punish them. Louie, do you think Milijas will stay to keep the bench warm? Castillo will surely be gone soon and Halford (whose brief appearance including playing Franco onside for West ham's consolation goal)must be surplus to requirements. Mick must be on the look out for next season already. What about Bel hadj on the cheap?

Yes let's hope Wenger damages the integrity of the game and rests his 'stars'.

If we stay up (and it's looking likely) we will have to get rid of the deadwood. Here's my list of who to get rid of.

    Ikeme
    Murray (never fit)
    Halford
    Friend
    Ward
    Hill
    Elokobi
    Surman
    Milijas
    Castillo (on loan)
    Mancienne (on loan)
    Iwelumo
    Maierhofer
    SEB

Then bring in two or three 'Doyles'.

Get Belhadj and Prince-Boateng. Get a couple of gems, a centre mid and striker.

  5. Ones I think we should let go of.

    Hill
    Iwelumo
    Halford
    castillo

I really rate mancienne, if we have him next year then that would be ace. Milijas has undoubted talent but will he be content on the bench? Not with a WC coming up. Jones is playing well, bit if we want to make that step up into the top half then Nenad is the man for me.

GIVE SEB a chance! He can do it. Dunno about the Hof, he could end up a Cult Hero.

would like Belhadj but bet old Harry will be sniffing around Pompey. He already has Kranjar, Defoe, crouch, Kaboul from Pompey

Muppet, how can you even think of getting rid of Big Matt when we've spent all this time and money getting him fit again. We might as well persevere now. And anyway, he's the best goalie in the country! Surman is a youngster so let's see how he develops and as for Nenad, after he has shone in South Africa we might find it hard to hold onto him anyway

  7. I think Mick is planning on snapping up Hull's Hunt once the season is over and turning him into a left back. I would also like to see at least two more top class (and I don't mean the likes of Halford) Premier League standard signings. A centre half and a midfielder. Kightly returning will be like a new signing too. And we shouldn't give up on SEB just yet
