The boys are back in town

Well, I can't say for sure if they left the Wolverhampton in between training (they probably did: Clicky) but you know what I mean.

Nearly all the Wolves players are back training, doing all sorts of fitness tests and I'm genuinely excited about the season ahead.

Firstly, we've spent £15 million on four players before July. All four players, cover positions we need cover in and are more than good enough for the Premier League. It creates competition of places between lots of quality players.

We finally get to show everyone what a real derby is. For the first time in a very long time (26 years), both Wolves and West Brom will play top flight football in the same season. Most Wolves (and West Brom) fans have always wanted to do battle in the Premier League. It would be great if all the midlands clubs did well and the new big four will have some exciting matches this season.

Michael Kightly is slowly but surely getting back to full fitness. He hasn't made the start of training but has said he wants to be playing in a couple of friendlies. A fully fit Kightly could rip some teams apart, he's been unfortunate and he will be like a new signing.

And finally, the stadium plans. They look fantastic. Filling in some corners, increasing the capacity. Morgan is thinking about the future, a big future. How amazing would it be if we are an established side in a few years playing in a packed 40,000 Molineux? They should start phase one in the new year.

So, English Wolves fans, there is a few reasons to be cheerful.

  1. Couldn't agree more Blogger wolf. It's been a near perfect close season for Wolves. Which is why (Wolves experience tells me) we should expect four or five straight league defeats and a crisis of confidence in Mick before we reach October.

  2. Never mind Kightly, The E&S seems to be saying that Matt Murray might be joining the squad in Ireland! What a bonus a fit Matt Murray would be!
