Most teams would be feeling sorry for themselves when they don't deserve to be three goals down. However, this team just do not give up and the way they picked themselves up was fantastic.
There is something about this team that gives me the feeling that there is no way we are going down this season. Perhaps a bold statement to make considering we are in the relegation zone but I am confident in the players we have and most of all, our manager.
Is it me, or did we deserve a lot more? We took the game to them, kept the ball much better than in recent games and had the chances to extended our lead at one nil. If we can produce that kind of performance every week, barring the twenty minutes we conceded the goals in, then we will have no problems.
You could even say that the replay against Doncaster comes at a good time. A few players are returning from injuries and players like Geoffrey Mujangi Bia have a chance to push for a place in the team.
Something else that gave me reason to be positive was Ronald Zubar at left back. He pushed forward in very much the same way as on the right, with more effect. It is certainly something I wouldn't mind seeing next Saturday, especially if Kevin Foley is fit.

Tevez was, well, Tevez |
Hennessey - 7
Zubar - 7
Stearman - 7
Berra - 8
Ward - 6
Jarvis - 6
Milijas - 8
Jones - 6
Hunt - 7
Doyle - 8
Fletcher - 7
Subs: Henry - 6, Mouyokolo - 6, Mujangi Bia - 7.
Next in the league is Liverpool, now with Kenny Dalglish in charge. I'm quietly confident of a result against them.
as for Bia he was brilliant... it made me think "where the hell has he been all season"... clinical passes and that oh so near equaliser at the end. Zubes had a mixed game, as did Berra, both of them shining and wilting in the same game..
ReplyDeleteBut the overall spirit of the game is as you put it, unquestioned. What was witnessed here was a team, with the not just the quality that put chelsea and pool to the sword, but the resilience to take on the almighty challenge of being 3 goals down... WE ARE WOLVES and if we show reproduce this performance next weekend we will take 3 points away with us...
WE LOVE YOU WANDERERS WE DO
Energetic, attacking football - what more can one ask for. The guys are starting to score goals. And Hunt's workrate continue to impress (was very unlucky on one of their goals). Doyle and Fletcher played some good football upfront. Can't say I've been more entusiastic after a loss than after this match.
ReplyDelete... And the Wolves are marching ON, ON, ON
if only we had a defence....................
ReplyDeleteIf we replicate the defending next week we will concede another 4 goals if not more!
ReplyDeleteWhere are we marching to? We played well and left with nothing!
ReplyDeleteWe're doing progress, that's my point. We've started to score goals away .... and we concede too many (but against world class strikers, which is very difficult to defend against+we were very attacking minded and went forward with a lot of players). One may ask if it was poor defensive play, or great performances from their strikers?
ReplyDeleteSpot on Karlir. They had over £50 million goijg forward against a defence that was without two key defenders and not mkuch experience.
ReplyDeleteSome teams just take beatings, there confidence goes down and they lose by 4/5. Our team comes back and makes sure we have made a fight of it. If we can play like this against the teams around us we have a very good chance of survival
Jed, come on. You can be more positive than that. If you aren't proud of that battling performance then i'm not sure if you support Wolves. There are plenty of positives to take, their multi-million strikeforce only played well in a twenty minute period and what can we do? if they are better than us, they are better than us. It was pleasing to see two very good forwards troubling the best defence in the league.
ReplyDeletehow anyone can persist with any kind of negativity in the face of this wonderful swashbuckling never say die team is simply beyond me? As if this isn't our best team for 30 years! Milijas is the best passer of the ball in a wolves shirt since at least the 70s. Doyle is a marvellous elegant (unbelievably industrious) footballer in the Johnny Richards mould. Jarvis, whose form has understandably (almost everybody's does) temporarily dipped, is as exciting a winger as there is in the premier league..Is there really anything to winge about?
ReplyDeleteWell done Louie for your (becoming regular now) Observer report. As usual the opposing team's supporters's remarks speak volumes about our team.
meant to include the link for Louie's report as he seems to modest to do so.

Negativity? Realism mate! The manager is a pigheaded idiot who persists with defenders who are clearly out of their depth. We are second from bottom and have not threatened to moveaway from the relegation zone at any point this season. I hear talk of out injured players. Craddock? Henry? Do me a favour! what other premier league would even think of playing Craddock. WE need to buy now! But before we do we need to get a manager who will know what to do with the money. If West Ham can get Martin O'Neill why can't we?
