How much is Kevin Doyle worth?

Various newspapers and website are linking Kevin Doyle with a £12m move to Arsenal.

The first thing I thought wasn't 'Doyle to Arsenal? Wow' but '£12m? Get lost!'. In the mad world of the transfer market, surely we can get more than that for our star player?

Snobby Arsenal fans disagree, I've seen a lot of comments and tweets venting their anger over the whole thing. They seem to think Doyler is a direct replacement for Nasri, Fabregas and Clichy!

I'd be gutted if we sold Kevin, because I'm looking forward to seeing if him and Steven Fletcher can form a partnership. They seem to compliment each other, and could both easily bag 10+ goals a season each.

If Mr.Wenger did make an enquiry what price would you tell him? I think I'd tell him to start at £15m. Anything less, and they can do one.

  1. As an Irishman , I think 12million for doyle is Extortionate money . I love Doyle to bits but the fact is , he is at best , a 7-8mil pound striker . Will never score more than 15 at Premier league level in single season so therefore 15million is a joke .
Great player , hard worker , great guy but if i was offered 12mil I'd take the money and run .

  2. I think 12m is a fair price in today's market, he is a decent steady player who puts in 100% and brings other players into games, and is one of the main reasons Wolves are still in the Premier League.

I can see where the Arsenal fans are coming from, if we sold Doyle and bought in some championship player for 3-4m as a direct replacement then us Wolves fans would not be too happy unless the whole sum was spent well.

for 12m today we could get 3-4 of these players teams like Chelsa,Man City and Spurs are trying to offload cheaply and i feel that could benefit the squad more than this one player.

  3. i hope he dont go i also want to see his partnership with fletch i think can be a good one,

On the other side if we did sell id be after more then 15mil tbh hes a great striker but any money raised from his sale id expect to go right back into the team ie maybe offering bit more for players we are after but then we would also need a replacement for him
arghhhh y us football never easy lol
lets jsut say hes not for sale any price seen as we do have cash to spend on transfers

I would estimate his market value around 20 mill.

  7. Interesting, but do you think we need the money hedgeworth?. I think we could spend £12m without having to sell anyway.

We need to strengthen our squad, no weaken it. Keep Doyler and buy 2 centre backs, a left back and a midfielder. Anything else and I can see us struggling again

  9. I'm an Arsenal fan, and have been telling my mates for ages that we should buy Doyle.  I think £12mill would be a good deal.  Difficult to compare transfer fees when Nasri is worth £20mill and Phil Jones £16mill though.  Would be very happy to see him in an Arsenal shirt next season.

  10. I'm not saying this -just- because I'm an albion fan but Doyle for Arsenal? I honestly don't see him fitting in with their passing system and I can't believe that - for twelve million - they wouldn't be able to find a more suited alternative abroad or even in their own academy.

Don't get me wrong he's a good player and I'd have him in our team, but Arsenal are playing in the Champion's League and its a world apart.

How would you use the money?
If Doyle goes to Arsenal for 12 mill, would you make a bid around 10 mill for R.Johnson and a striker worth 4 mill? Or would you buy a striker valued the same or more?

  12. Massively under-rated by some Wolves fans which I struggle to understand.  Anybody who knows anything about football knows he is a fantastic player and it is no surprise that a manager such as Wenger is potentially looking to land him.  Would be very surprised if Wolves considered anything less than £20m for Doyle and in the current market that would still be a bargain.

  13. Not a penny more than £500,000

  14. Rate Doyle very highly but think that it would be a good deal for all at about £14m. Doyle deserves an opportunity to play at the highest level he possibly can, we have 2 good centre forwards in fletch and ebanks and if you used that money to get johnson, and replace doyle with long we would be better off as a team. On the subject of the price tag, he is a far better player than some people think, adaptable to play as lone striker or as part of a front 2 and proven in the prem.

  15. As a Newcastle fan and Irishman I'd personally love it if we spent 10mil on Doyle to partner Ba .
And to the guys saying £20million isn't enough or is exactly right , take a look at what Overseas players with much better scoring records and you can Acquire for half of 20 million .
He just isn't THAT Good . And saying that , I have a Doyle's name on the back of my Ireland jersey .
I'd say he'd be a hit at Arsenal . Would add a little physical bite to their attack

It depends on what sort of players he's surrounded by. On the national team he scores often. And I read an article where his abilities actually were assessed by Wenger himself. He describes Doyle as having some pace, although not very pacey, strong but not very strong - as an allround player with technical abilities. I personally believe he'll be a catch for Arsenal, and that Arsenal, as a team, would blossom. Doyle is a very mobile player, and with world class players like Arshavin it's going to be very interesting to follow his career further as a gunner if the move is getting completed.

Doyle currently discussing new contract with wolves - could this be an agent trying to get a better contract for his player?

  18. I would tell arsenal the second word is OFF! unless they come back with £50 million, and before anybody laughs - well if carroll is worth £35 million - then Doyle who is a "proven" international is surely worth it, if Arsenal want him that bad then they have to pay up, we don't need to sell.

  19. Given his experience and age, and current market conditions, he is easily worth 20M+ Would I sell him for that? Who would you replace him with, and what would that cost???

  20. We have to keep Doyle, that's the end of it. Doyle gives us flexibility in the formation. Remember at one point last season, when we were just playing Doyle upfront, it seemed as if our other strikers were just wasted, and becoming frustrated? Yet, at the opposite end of the season, our strikers were all injured practically, apart from Fletcher (who still got some knocks) and we were looking rather desperate.

I think Doyle can play well with either Ebanks-Blake and Fletcher, and I think we would do good if they all three, trained and played together more often. If anything we could do with adding to the strike force.

  21. Agree. And we never got to see properly if Fletch and Doyler can play together. They have what it takes to be an excellent partnership.

how about we keep him for another season so that his excellent playing for Wolves raises his value? :)

  23. As much as I love Doyle wolves could take I recon no less than 20m we could regenerate that money into the squad and buy some good quality played not ones at mediocre level!
