5 years and counting

21/7/06 - The best thing to happen for Wolves for a long time.

It is of course the day Michael Joseph McCarthy was appointed manager. There are, and always will be people who don't like him but there isn't much arguing with the job he has done and what he has created at Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club.

"I'll tell you what - and I've said it before….my initials MM stand for Mick McCarthy not Merlin Magician….."

Those were the words from his first press conference, but he's not far off from being Merlin the Magician!

His interviews are always something to look forward to on MOTD
Some of his tactics have been odd, decisions strange and he's a stubborn old fool but in the end, he has always come good. After that wobble in the Championship, the change to 4-5-1 the next year and when we rescued our season against West Brom earlier this year are all good cases for that.

Most importantly, in my opinion, he has given us a team we can be proud of. A team that will never stop working. And a team that really cares.

I was delighted to hear that he wanted another five years, and to possibly get a trophy in that time because that's what I think we should be aiming at. And with the progress we have made in the past five years, who's to say we can't improve even more?

Thank you Mick, for giving us our club back. Here's to another five years!

    McCarthy' s a class act - you're right, we're extremely lucky to have him!

    As well as being a great manager, he's got a great personality - that's what I like so much about him! :)

    A trophy in 5 years? LOL! Not with the budget he has at disposal. Maybe the cup, at best. We use too match money on stadium and facilities to make it in 5 years. If we'd use everything on world class players we could have had a chance. All the six big ones spend so much money that we can't possible catch on to them in a period of 5 years. Maybe we can establish us on the upper part of the table because we've got something few other clubs have - continuety.

    Thumbs up for MM and his crew for the job they've done so far!!
    Celebration :=)
